Ringwood Development 1-1 WESTOVER

After a spirited performance against Bournemouth Manor in their last game, Westover were full of confidence going into a tough away league match against Ringwood Development FC.

Keeping a much unchanged starting line-up Westover came out the blocks firing, piling the pressure on Ringwood’s back four straight from the off.

But for the woodwork and some fine goalkeeping, Westover could have been 3-0 up with barely quarter of an hour played. A couple long shots by Moore fizzed just past the post and soon after Ringwood took the lead with a well taken counterattack.

Not to be discouraged the boys began taking control of the game again and had a couple of efforts from striker Horlock scrambled to safety off the goal-line.

Keeping the attacks going right until the half time whistle, Westover were awarded a well-deserved penalty after a fine midfield solo run from Nagy. Uncharacteristically Nagy saw his effort balloon over the crossbar in what was near enough the last kick of a frustrating first half.

The second half followed on much the same as the first, with Westover dominating possession but lacking a killer instinct in the final third.

Chucking on fresh legs Westover soon found the reward their hard work merited. A fine Horlock through ball found substitute Allman who calmly dispatched into the top right-hand corner.

The equaliser looked to encourage Westover to find a winner, but for all the second-half pressure, clear cut chances were hard to come by.

In the end Ringwood could count themselves lucky to go home with a point. For Westover it was another case of not taking chances in what should have been a comprehensive victory for the boys in Red and Blue.

Next week Westover are away to Milford in the league and should be confident of grabbing three points if this performance is anything to go by.
